Bristile extends national business capabilities with heritage re-roof project at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital
Bristile Roofing, part of the Brickworks Building Products group, announced today the successful completion of a major re-roofing project on the 1902 heritage Vanderfield Building at Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital.
Lasting nearly 12 weeks, the project was a first for the industry leading manufacturer of concrete and ceramic roof tiles, extending its traditional capabilities of supply and install to commercial reroofing, and breaking new ground for the organisation as a statement of capability.
According to Garry Hasler, Reroofing Manager at Bristile Roofing, “The move into commercial work greatly extends the company’s national business capabilities and enables customers to utilise our extensive systems and procedures in the planning and delivery of major projects.”
With many of the original Marseille tiles in an advanced state of deterioration, North Sydney Local Health District appointed TCQ Construction as principal building contractor to replace the entire 850m2 roof. Bristile Roofing supplied ceramic tiles and roofing installation experts, liaised with the principal building contractor, and conducted ongoing inspections. Bristile Roofing’s range of La Escandella Marseille ceramic tiles were selected by hospital authorities, maintaining the classic style and beauty of the original tiles produced in the coastal city of Marseilles in the south of France.
Working alongside TCQ, Bristile Roofing was involved during the various stages of the project. From initial assessment of the old roof, through to removal of existing tiles section-by-section, replacement of damaged battens, installation of sarking, flashing and tiling, the re-roof was achieved by experts in their field.
